After 478 days of patiently waiting for the opportune time to venture out to Europe (our dream honeymoon location), we finally took our Honeymoon trip & honestly, I wish I could go back and relive every. single. day. I can honestly say that if given the option again, I’d take our delayed honeymoon over taking a trip immediately after the wedding any day.
Waiting until the time was right, allowed us to perfectly plan out exactly what we wanted our dream honeymoon to be & leave with absolutely no regrets or feelings like we missed out on seeing/doing anything…and not to brag, butttt I’m pretty sure we nailed it!
Luckily for any of you reading, we did all the research beforehand and made sure to keep note of every travel tip along the way…
It is worth mentioning that any + all recommendations that you’ll find below I’d strongly advise making reservations weeks prior to your trip. Right now everyone is traveling and basically anywhere we went required a reservation, don’t sleep on it, fam!
The entire honeymoon will be divided in separate blog posts; below is our overall itinerary of locations & stays:
TRIP OUTLINE:
Fly into Naples, take private cab to Positano
Positano; 2 nights, 3 days
Take ferry to Amalfi
Amalfi; 3 nights, 4 days
Take ferry to Capri
Capri- 4 nights, 5 days
Take ferry to Naples fly out to Greece
Mykonos- 4 nights, 4 days
Fly from Greece to France
Paris, France- 1 night
Fly home out of France
Positano, Italy:
Positano was truly the best place to experience the Amalfi coast first, IMO- The first 48 hours I think my body was surging on pure endorphins because of all of the excitement & absolute beauty! It’s quite possibly one of the most picturesque places I’ve ever been to– I mean, between the tiny coastal winding roads and the beautiful view of the cliffside town from just about any corner, it’s impossible not to love. We quickly discovered that basically everyone around us was also a tourist which made communicating convenient..but we made sure to try out our best Italian to be polite, Lol.
Positano Hotel: Hotel Casa Albertina
There are definitely plenty of options to indulge for your Positano stay that are insanely luxe and absolutely stunning! For this part of the trip, we knew we would (realistically) rarely be in our room since we had so many reservations & places to see… so staying in a 3k/night hotel definitely wasn’t our priority. Casa Albertina was a perfect find especially for our first stay in Europe & came at a very reasonable price point. The best part (IMO) is that it gave us a more authentic perspective of Positano, which felt nice since it’s such a touristy stop. Not to mention, I felt like we had a pretty epic view… definitely loved!
1ST DAY—
Arrive from Naples airport via private taxi
I highly recommend coordinating your commute from Naples to Positano beforehand, we used getyourguide.com and communicated with their service via WhatsApp before landing.
Transportation: As far as traveling goes, everything within Positano we walked to & then on our last day, we bought ferry tickets at the port for the next departing boat to Amalfi (which was overall quite simple & is possible to book online or in-person).
Sunset cocktails at Franco’s Bar (next to Le Sirenuse)
So Franco’s needs to be on your list! But only seat on a first-come basis since they do not take reservations. Overall one of our absolute favorites in Positano with a super exclusive vibe. Definitely plan to get there by at least 4:30 because there will be a line outside since they don’t actually open until 5pm… so, basically everyone is going with plans to watch the sunset!
Address: Via Cristoforo Colombo 30 84017, Positano (SA)
After drinks, we made dinner reservations at Chez Black, but to be quite honest, I wouldn’t put this on the list of my personal recommendations. More than anything, it felt super touristy. The entire experience just didn’t blow us away and despite being recommended to us for the trip– I just feel like Positano has so many more incredible authentic options to offer. Looking back, I would’ve likely opted to go for a nice appetizer and drinks…but the food didn’t really blow us away like *quite literally* the meals on the rest of our trip, Haha.
2ND DAY—
Started with Breakfast at the hotel & explore all of the fun Positano shopping around town.
One thing I realllllly loved about each of our hotel stays is that the continental breakfasts do not disappoint! Unlike the US, continental breakfast in Europe was something I looked forward to each day– so many fresh fruits, juices, breads, cheeses, etc. I feel like for this reason alone I would pick a hotel over an AirBnb just because I truly love a good breakfast & it’s already included in the costs.
Lunch at IL Tridente (inside Hotel Poseidon) seating is outside with yet again insanely gorgeous views! This was where I found my hands down my favorite Caprese salad of our entire trip! For our lunch dishes, I opted for the Mediterranean salad & Jared went with a Caesar salad paired with our limoncello and aperol spritz, of course:)
Arienzo Beach Club **
Getting to and from the beach club will require a 5 euro water taxi there & they will ask you to have a reservation prior to getting on the boat. Your water taxi back to Spiaggia Beach is complimentary/included in your package at the beach club & they can be a little pricey…so def recommend checking it out before making plans to head over! Reservations can also be made on WhatsApp.
Private Sunset Boat Cruise **
It was overcast on the evening of our sunset cruise, so we opted for our tour to go along the coast line to Fiordo di Furore bridge (versus the island adjacent to Positano which was the other option) and it was so beautiful! During this we were given a bottle of champagne, snacks & our boat driver was a great photographer which i know we can all appreciate👌🏼
We booked our private cruise through Positano Boat Rentals and they picked us up right on Spiaggia Beach which was super convenient.
After our private boat cruise, we snagged a cocktail from a bar right on Spiaggia Grande beach and went back to Franco’s bar to continue the fun (again, Lol)
3RD DAY—
We went pretty hard on our second day in Positano and truly indulged in alllll the things (as you can see from above) so we took it easy on our 3rd day- slept in, we went downstairs to enjoy breakfast overlooking Positano, and then packed our things to head out to our next stop: Amalfi!
Recommended Restaurants/Bars in Positano:
⁃ Franco’s bar **
Arrive approx at 5pm to get the best sunset view facing the coast.
Def our fave place for cocktails in Positano with an amazing outdoor vibe… for what it’s worth, we went twice in the 3 days we were in town.
⁃ La Tagliata
If you’re planning to venture out to this family owned gem, go hungry! Serves 5-6 courses with unlimited wine. We had this restaurant on our list since it came highly recommended, but on the day of our reservation we were still soooo incredibly full that we canceled our resi and went to a local spot for lunch sandwiches! Highly recommend that if you’re planning to go here make a resi with enough time in advance (book a shuttle for transport otherwise a private taxi will cost you around 50 euros since it’s about 40 mins from Positano!)
⁃ Le Sireneuse**- ALDOS for drinks and dinner (also located here: Michelin-starred La Sponda restaurant)
⁃ Positano Paradise Lounge Bar – Casual spot for a drink / relax with beach view
⁃ Da Adolfo Positano- a beach recc given to us, but we never actually went so I can’t vouch.
⁃ IL Tridente @ hotel poseidon **
We made lunch reservations here & the view did not disappoint!
Recommended places to eat that we didn’t get the chance to try out, but on our list for next time:
– Donna Rosa
– Bruno
– Max
– Buca di Bacco; overlooks the beach
– Casa e Bottega (if you want a break from Italian food, has acai bowls, juices, etc.)
– Next 2 (a michelin star)
More Beautiful Spots in Positano esp. for photos:
⁃ Spiaggia Grande beach- for that classic Positano shot with all of the umbrellas, go in the morning for a less crowded shot!
⁃ Stairs at the entrance of Rada restaurant
⁃ Via cristoforo colombo
⁃ The fruit stand on the way from Positano to Amalfi (b/t Positano & villa Granville)
⁃ The balcony of Pepe Positano *
– The Path of Gods Hiking Trail
Check back to find our itineraries for both Amalfi + Capri, and Mykonos –of which, dare I say we mayyyy have loved the most (bold statement, I know… Haha) Have you been? Comment below if so!
