Last winter, 5 of our best friends + our husbands took a winter vacation together to Breckenridge, Colorado. We had so much fun on the trip, that we all concluded that an annual vacation together had to be a new tradition that our friend group should continue.
So, this year we ventured off to Park City, Utah!
Where we stayed
Most of us had never actually vacationed in Utah so it was definitely a new experience all of us. If you caught the trip last year over on my Instagram, you probably saw the huge AirBnb mountain cabin we booked with a huge pool table & hot tub. (snippet from last years trip here)
So this year, we stuck to the same vibe and stayed at this 6BR ranch home located , 15 minutes outside of Park City which was perfect for a big group like ours! Some may opt for the ski in & out options if going on a winter vacation, but we really enjoyed having the privacy of our own place with these beautiful 80+ acre views of snow covered mountains.
What we did + Where we ate
So our entire trip was a total of 5 days which was honestly the perfect amount of time for Park City (IMO). We flew into Salt Lake City which is about a 30-40 min commute to our Airbnb ranch home, so we stopped for a quick lunch Rawtopia, at a delicious vegan find where us girls split 4 different meals so we could share & taste everything.
Rawtopia Salt Lake City
Once we made it to Park City, the rest of our first day we used to get ourselves situated for the rest of our week; we unpacked, picked up our ski rentals, and picked up groceries to make sure we’d be stocked with everything we needed!
Prior to the trip, we made reservations for the meals we thought we’d go out to eat for ahead of time considering the size of our group (total of 8 of us). While doing this, we discovered Park City to be quite the foodie destination (who knew?!) with so many great food options! Since we had dining spots carved out ahead of time, there were so many locations I was excited to try out– but I will say our dinner at Riverhorse On Main definitely takes the cake for our best meal of the trip!
Riverhorse on Main was recommended to us by a friend + now we know why! It’s upscale dining with eclectic American dishes & paired with a large wine selection. But the atmosphere and live music on piano, give the location it’s elegant vibe to really enjoy your night in Park City!
I ordered the Halibut and Jared went with the filet mignon with plans to share, but once I got my plate…that definitely didn’t happen Haha. But, make sure you secure a reservation prior to your upcoming trip if considering Riverhorse for a vacation dinner destination, because they book up quickly!
Skiing + Snowboarding
We chose Day 2 to ski Park City Mountain and Day 3 to experience Canyons Village & we had suchhhh a good time with tons of belly laughs throughout the day at both! I personally preferred Canyons most—not only was it less crowded, but the trails were a lot more spacious had a fun variety of terrain throughout the runs, some of the BEST views on each run (proof in the photos below), + more options to take a break between runs if desired!
If you’re a first timer/beginner, it would definitely be best to start on the Park City side before making your way to Canyons given their more challenging runs (not very many options for green trails)
We also made sure to order ski / snowboard rentals + lift tickets in advance and purchased our day passes through Epic online, which we’ll definitely continue to do because it just makes things so much smoother once we arrived.
There are also other options for skiing that we didn’t end up venturing to, like Deer Valley & Brighton (which has night riding available). I had always heard most about St. Regis Deer Valley when referring to Park city, which is also a really beautiful destination and the St. Regis resort is a popular picturesque spot among celebrities / bloggers, but because they don’t allow any snowboarding we decided to skip out! However, it’s always highly recommended and an iconic ski in/ski out resort even just for an evening to enjoy the view (note: the resort is quite isolated & road conditions may limit travel to/from)
While most of us went skiing Day 3, but 2 of our friends in the group decided to go on a guided snowmobiling adventure and came home with raving reviews about their day! The snowmobiling guided tour they opted for was Tracked Out Adventures where they were lead through an exhilarating ride through snowcapped terrain in the backcountry side of Utah for over 5 hours!
